The first edition of API Std 975 "Quality Control of Refractory Installations - Inspection and testing of refractory brick Systems and materials" was published in November 2021.  This standard provides a quality control procedure for the installation of aluminum silicate dense insulated firebrick systems and can be used as a supplement to the owner's specification.  Materials, equipment and personnel are qualified by the described methods and the quality of refractories used is closely monitored according to defined procedures and acceptance criteria.  The standard also defines the duties of inspectors to supervise and direct the quality control process.
